The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Industrial Automation Technician to support PLC‐driven automation, robotics and injection moulding machinery in a high‐volume manufacturing environment.
This hands‐on role focuses on fault finding, preventative maintenance, die setting and continuous improvement to maximise OEE, safety and product quality.
You will work closely with production, maintenance and quality teams to minimise downtime and support reliable 24/7 operations.
This is a full‐time Sydney‐based role offering exposure to modern automation technology, stable employment and opportunities to contribute to system improvements and upgrades.Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation & Technical MaintenanceIntegrate industrial robots into handling, inspection and packaging duty and verify the safety interlocks before anything runsRun root cause analysis on recurring and recent faults, troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environmentService, repair and set upinjection moulding machines, robotics, IML systems and auxiliariesFault‐find and replacemechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic componentsPerformpreventative and predictive maintenance, upgrades and calibrationsComplete major overhauls and support complexprocessing and die‐setting issuesInstall, modify and repair machinery with or without technical schematicsProduction & Die SettingPerform die changes, insert and colour changes, machine start‐ups and shutdownsSet, adjust and optimiserobotics, machine software and process parametersTroubleshoot production faults,



including IML and high‐speed packaging issues; optimise control systems and delivering automation improvementsMaintain cycle times and ensure products meetquality and specification standardsSupport production operators to ensuresafe and efficient machine operationContinuous ImprovementDevelop and implement automation improvements and new processesSupport continuous improvement throughautomation design, build, programming and optimisationAnalyse root causes ofdowntime, defects and waste and implement corrective actionsMaintain accurate records ofdowntime, rejects, NCRs and maintenance activityRecommend improvements toequipment performance, productivity and product qualityQuality & ComplianceWork closely with QA to ensure equipment meets product, regulatory and customer requirementsEnsure compliance withsite quality systems, HACCP and food safety standardsVerify new or modified automation systems prior toproduction handoverSafety & HousekeepingCarry out all work in line with WHS legislation, site procedures and permitsIdentify, report and rectifyhazards and near missesMaintain clean, safe and organised work areas and equipmentCommunication & Team SupportCommunicate and elevate technical issues across shifts to ensure operational continuitySupervise and supportthird‐party service technicians as requiredAssist withtraining and upskilling of production and maintenance teamsParticipate intoolbox talks, shift handovers and CI forumsAbout YouA bachelor's degree in mechatronic engineeringMinimum of 3 - 4 years hands‐on industrial automation experience in a production or manufacturing environmentPLC development with genuine fluency in structured text and ladder logicExperience in robot integration in handling, inspection or packaging duty
