The role is a unique one combining the leadership of a small program of the College (40 students) with the leadership of a small staff team (approximately 5 staff).
The successful candidate will be a highly relational individual who is also an accomplished educator with awareness of trauma-informed best practice.
Stepping into an established Program the individual will be active in seeking to understand and implement the existing models of practice and will work in a manner that is deeply aligned to the organisation's values and faith position.
The role is a teaching role and the successful candidate will be able to work effectively with the small staff team while also delivering quality teaching to at-risk students.
The program sits within a larger support framework that includes leadership, administration and students services supports.
N.B. The position title "Lead Teacher" does not denote that the successful candidate will have HALT accreditation, it does also not indicate that salary is commensurate with pay for "Lead Teachers" in other sectors.Role Purpose & Key ResponsibilitiesThe Lead Teacher plays a central role in ensuring the successful delivery of the educational and recovery programs of Alta-1 College.
They:Successfully lead small teams in order to deliver great outcomes for at-risk studentsAre responsible for the overall management of a college campus programDeliver curriculum in line with College and regulatory requirementsProvide pastoral care and support to studentsManage student behaviour and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environmentEngage positively with parents and external agenciesContribute to campus and program developmentThe role requires professional integrity, effective communication,



and a commitment to both student transformation and teaching excellence.Role Selection CriteriaEssential (applicable to all college staff):Commitment to Christian faith, college values and the highest standards of professional conductPassionate about supporting at-risk and vulnerable young people towards positive growth and changeDemonstrated capacity to lead healthy teams to deliver outstanding outcomesDemonstrated capacity to deliver curriculum and support diverse learnersStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with at-risk young peopleOrganisational skills, including accurate record-keeping and reportingHighly desirable:Knowledge of trauma-informed, inclusive education practicesPrevious experience working with at-risk and educationally disengaged young peopleRequired Qualifications:To be registered with the Queensland College of TeachersHolder of a valid driver licenseHow to applyIf you can see yourself becoming a member of the growing Alta-1 team and succeeding in this role then please apply.
