With a large and diverse workforce, the business has a structured Group Finance function supporting multiple operations across Australia.An prospect is available for a technically strong Senior Financial Accountant to join the Group Finance team, based on Brisbane's northside.
Reporting to the Group Financial Accounting Manager, this is a broad senior role with responsibility across financial accounting, taxation, statutory reporting, compliance and audit.The position also has two direct reports and will play an important role in mentoring and developing members of the Finance team.About the RoleThis is a hands-on technical accounting position suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of complex financial accounting and compliance requirements while also contributing to process improvement.Your responsibilities will include:Manage key month-end processes, including AASB 16 lease accounting, consolidation eliminations, accruals, tax journals and balance sheet reconciliationsPrepare monthly Capex reporting, fixed asset movements, cash forecasts and other financial reporting requirementsManage key taxation and compliance activities, including BAS, PAYG, GST, fuel tax rebates and preparation of the Group FBT returnPrepare TPAR and Payment Times Reporting submissions and support tax-effect accounting and annual income tax requirementsAssist with annual statutory financial statements and external audit requirements, including fixed asset, right-of-use asset and provision schedulesDrive improvements across financial systems and processes, while ensuring procedures are effectively documented and providing training and support to the wider Finance teamLead,



mentor and develop two Finance team members while building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors and external advisersThe BenefitsSalary of $130,000 - $145,000 + super, with some flexibility depending on experienceWork from home on FridaysBrisbane northside location with free on-site parkingBroad exposure across financial accounting, taxation, compliance, statutory reporting and auditTwo direct reports, providing genuine leadership and mentoring responsibilityOpportunity to work closely with senior Finance stakeholders, auditors and external taxation advisersScope to influence systems, processes and continuous improvementJoin an established national organisation with a sizeable and structured Finance functionAbout YouWe are looking for a technically capable Senior Financial Accountant who can demonstrate genuine hands-on experience across the key requirements of the position.You will ideally bring:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related disciplineCPA or CA qualificationDemonstrated hands-on experience preparing FBT returns and reviewing FBT treatment throughout the yearPractical working knowledge of AASB 16, including preparing lease accounting journals and working with right-of-use assetsExperience across BAS, PAYG, tax-effect accounting, statutory reporting and external audit requirementsPrevious experience leading, mentoring or developing Finance team membersThis role has genuine ownership of both FBT preparation and AASB 16 month-end accounting, rather than simply providing information to another team or external adviser.
Candidates need to have personally worked with these areas in practice; theoretical knowledge or experience limited to supplying information for someone else to complete the work will not be sufficient.
