Barefoot Build is looking for a construction supervisor to join our small but growing team in a varied role combining site assessments, estimating, project coordination and project delivery.The position is highly varied and sometimes mobile, with a significant part of your week spent travelling between prospective projects, active construction sites, suppliers and subcontractors across Melbourne.We are ideally looking for a qualified carpenter or someone with a strong practical construction background who understands how buildings go together, can walk onto a site and assess what is required, and is looking to progress into a broader construction management and estimating role.You don't necessarily need to be an experienced estimator.
For the right person with robust construction knowledge, organization and communication skills, we can develop the estimating and commercial side of the role.Duties & Key responsibilitiesAttending prospective projects to inspect and assess proposed worksReporting back to the project manager or CoordinatorMeasuring, photographing and documenting existing site conditionsHelping Develop scopes of works and determining construction requirementsIdentifying labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors required to complete worksAssisting with estimating, take-offs, supplier pricing and preparation of quotationsReviewing architectural and construction drawingsAssisting and meeting with clients, consultants,



subcontractors and suppliersAttending active projects to inspect progress and workmanshipCoordinating subcontractors, suppliers and construction activitiesAssisting with programming, procurement and project planningIdentifying variations and additional worksTroubleshooting construction issues on siteManaging smaller projects from commencement through to completionAssisting the Project manager and coordinator with the delivery of larger projects where requiredEnsuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standardThere may occasionally be situations where your practical carpentry skills are useful on site, however this is not primarily an on-the-tools carpentry position.What we're looking forThis role would particularly suit an experienced Carpenter, Leading Hand, Working Foreman or Construction Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career.Trade qualification in Carpentry or significant equivalent construction experienceStrong practical knowledge of building and constructionAbility to inspect a site and determine what is required to complete the worksAbility to read and interpret construction drawingsGood understanding of construction sequencing and different tradesStrong problem-solving skillsGood communication and people skillsConfidence dealing with clients, subcontractors and suppliersGood organisation and time-management skillsBasic computer skills and willingness to learn our estimating and project management systemsPrevious estimating, project management or supervisory experience would be highly regarded but is not essential for the right person.What we offerImmediate startFully maintained company vehicle + Fuel cardLaptopVariety of projects across MelbourneCombination of site-based and office-based workOngoing training and skilled developmentOpportunity to develop estimating and project management skillsGenuine opportunity to progress within the businessAutonomy and responsibility as your experience in the role developsAbout usBarefoot Build is a respected construction company dedicated to delivering quality projects with integrity and excellence.
