BDR Stainless is seeking an experiencedPressure Pipe Welder / Pipe Fitterto join our team for workshop and site-based mechanical works.
The primary focus of the role will be pressure pipe welding in both stainless steel and mild steel.
There will also likely be some miscellaneous fabrication work as required, including fabrication of pipe supports, brackets and minor structural steelwork.
The role will involve a mixture of workshop and site-based work across our projects.
Key responsibilities
Produce welds to the required standard, capable of successfully completing a 6G welder qualification test to AS/NZS **** in both stainless steel and carbon/mild steel
Competent welding of both mild steel and stainless steel pressure pipework
Produce pressure pipe welds subject to visual inspection and NDT, including radiographic and/or ultrasonic examination
Demonstrate strong GTAW welding capability
Perform pipe fitting work
Read and work from fabrication drawings, isometrics and weld maps
Prepare welds, fit-up, purge and control heat appropriately
Consistently produce high-quality root, fill and cap passes
Maintain strong attention to weld cleanliness and contamination control, particularly with stainless steel
Work independently and as part of a fabrication/site team
About you
Construction Induction White Card – Essential
Drivers Licence – Essential
GMAW/FCAW - Highly regarded but not essential
Working At Heights - Highly regarded but not essential
EWP - Highly regarded but not essential
Previous experience producing pressure pipe welds subject to visual inspection and NDT, including radiographic and/or ultrasonic examination, will be highly regarded
Experience in additional welding processes highly regarded
Valuable understanding of weld preparation, fit-up, purging and heat control
Understanding of WPS requirements and welding traceability
