The Opportunity

Toowoomba Anglican School is seeking an experienced and highly organised Head of Pathways to lead and coordinate our whole-school career development and pathways program.

This is an exciting opportunity to support students as they explore subject selections, vocational education, tertiary study, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment pathways. Working closely with students, families, School leaders, external education providers, employers and industry representatives, you will help students make informed decisions aligned with their interests, strengths and future aspirations.

The successful candidate will be an engaging communicator and relationship builder who can deliver strategic, responsive and student-centred pathways services across the School.

Applicants do not need to be registered teachers. We welcome applications from suitably qualified career development practitioners and professionals with relevant experience in careers education, vocational pathways, tertiary education, industry engagement or a related field.

What You'll Do

- Lead and coordinate a comprehensive whole-school career development program.
- Provide individual and group career guidance to students.
- Support students with subject selection, changes to subjects and patterns of study.
- Work closely with the Dean of Curriculum and Head of Secondary regarding subject selections and post-school pathways.
- Coordinate subject information evenings and prepare supporting information and resources.
- Ensure students and parents receive current information about curriculum developments,



subject choices and relevant Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor student enrolments in external vocational pathways, including TAFE at School programs, certificates, apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Liaise with external providers, employers, tertiary institutions and industry representatives to strengthen students' career awareness and opportunities.
- Coordinate Distance Education enrolments and associated assessment processes.
- Assist students with university Head Start applications and other tertiary pathway opportunities.
- Coordinate QTAC and ATAR information sessions and presentations.
- Manage Pathway Partners initiatives, including Career Insights sessions, Coffee and Conversations, mock interviews, work experience and internship opportunities.
- Support students to develop and maintain their Senior Education and Training Plans.
- Monitor student progress and ensure appropriate support and follow-up measures are in place.
- Maintain current professional knowledge of career development, education, training and employment pathways.
- Handle student and family information with discretion and confidentiality.

What You'll Bring

- A genuine commitment to helping young people identify and pursue meaningful education, training and employment pathways.
- A recognised qualification in career development, or a commitment to obtaining a relevant qualification, such as a graduate certificate or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in career development, student pathways, vocational education, tertiary education, youth support or a similar field.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple programs, events and enrolment processes.
- Excellent presentation,



interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Effective relationship-building and influencing skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with students, families, School staff, external providers, employers and industry representatives.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to implement strategic career development initiatives.
- Sound judgement and a commitment to maintaining discretion and confidentiality when working with students and parents.
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card), or eligibility to obtain one.

Teacher registration is not required for this position. Applicants with teaching experience are welcome to apply; however, relevant career development and pathways experience will be highly regarded.
