The Opportunity

Join our Southern Roads Upgrade (SRU) Leadership Team and play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality and efficient outcomes across the portfolio.

As a Works Supervisor, you will be based in Stawell and lead our operations delivery teams as well as subcontractors in the delivery of network maintenance and incident response services. You will be responsible for coordinating resources, managing day-to-day operations and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role, with a strong focus on creating a positive and proactive culture across health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) while achieving optimum production and cost outcomes.

Working Hours

The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, with an expectation to participate in the after-hours call-out roster.

After-hours responsibilities will include coordinating the appropriate resources to respond to incidents and, where required, attending the site and responding personally.

Key Accountabilities

- Lead operational teams to deliver maintenance programs safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, quality, cost, environmental and time requirements.
- Plan, coordinate and manage routine and periodic maintenance activities, resources, assets, personnel,



subcontractors and incident response teams.
- Monitor and review the Maintenance Management Plan, asset performance, productivity, resource utilisation and costs, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Manage maintenance personnel, inspectors and contractors, ensuring appropriate training, inductions and compliance with company procedures and standards.
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety and environmental legislation, including participation in safety meetings, inspections and toolbox talks.
- Monitor and report on technical, maintenance, system and productivity performance, including maintenance outcomes and asset records.
- Build positive employee relations, address workplace issues and escalate potential concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate emergency response support and assistance to relevant authorities for road network incidents and accidents.
- Plan and schedule team activities to meet required timelines, priorities and project outputs.
- Manage subcontractor selection and performance, including authority to issue environmental improvement notices, stop work and require appropriate environmental controls or restoration.
- Conduct cost/value analysis and monitor efficiency to optimise resources, assets and overall maintenance performance.

About You

We are seeking an experienced road maintenance professional with strong leadership, operational and client management skills. You will have:

- Extensive experience in road maintenance and network management, including team leadership.
- Mandatory General Construction Induction Card (White Card) and current Driver’s Licence.




- Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Maintenance) or equivalent experience desirable.
- Strong knowledge of road maintenance, pavement, surfacing and asphalt practices.
- Proven ability to deliver robust safety, quality, environmental and operational outcomes.
- Experience managing maintenance works, materials, quality, resources and operational programs.
- Experience leading operational teams on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of client requirements, contracts and stakeholder management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship-building skills.
- VicRoads maintenance contract experience desirable.
- Understanding of the Road Management Act, Road Management Plans, inspections and contractual KPIs.
- Strong analytical, reporting, Microsoft Office and program management capabilities.
- Ability to implement compliant processes, minimise risk and drive continuous improvement.
