Tarkine Consulting is supporting a major insurance client on a Mule Soft/Integration Platform engagement, helping stand up testing capability for a newly formed Mule Soft squad. As part of this work, we're looking to engage a senior Automation Tester with genuine hands-on Mule Soft platform experience to join an established delivery team.

This is a hands-on role by design, centred on validating Mule Soft APIs deployed on Cloud Hub rather than general web automation. You don't need to be a pure Mule Soft specialist — a blend of established API automation fundamentals (REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot) alongside genuine Mule Soft platform exposure is exactly the mix that works well here.

The role /n

You’ll contribute to end-to-end testing of Mule Soft-based APIs, with a strong emphasis on automation and integration quality.

Responsibilities typically include: /n

/n

- Validating Mule Soft APIs hosted on Cloud Hub through end-to-end functional API tests — request/response behaviour, error handling, and downstream interactions — using Bruno/Bruno CLI or Postman

/n

- Building and maintaining automated API regression suites for Mule flows, with data-driven testing and JSON/XML schema validation

/n

- Contributing to Mule Soft platform testing using Anypoint Platform knowledge, validating deployed APIs and specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI)

/n

- Creating and using service virtualisation/mocking (Hoverfly/Wire Mock) to stabilise automated testing during migration and change

/n

- Embedding Mule Soft API test automation into CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub workflows as quality gates

/n

- Supporting API security and observability (Splunk/New Relic), alongside performance testing (Gatling/JMeter)

What we're looking for /n

/n





- 5+ years' experience in senior automation/API testing roles

/n

- Genuinely hands-on Mule Soft API testing experience, ideally including Cloud Hub

/n

- Solid REST API testing fundamentals — REST Assured, JUnit, Spring Boot, Bruno/Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI

/n

- JSON/XML schema validation and real data-driven test design

/n

- CI/CD experience via Git Hub/Git Hub workflows, and mocking/service virtualisation (Hoverfly, Wire Mock)

/n

- Solid grounding in containerisation, microservices, API security, distributed tracing, and cloud concepts

/n

- Comfortable with Agile/SAFe delivery and stakeholder management

/n

- Experience with Anypoint Platform, MUnit, or Data Weave specifically is highly regarded but not essential — genuine platform exposure across any of these is a strong signal

/n

- Insurance or banking domain exposure is beneficial but not essential

/n

- Newly formed Mule Soft squad within a well-established insurance program

- Hybrid working model, Sydney or Melbourne based

/n

- Environment that values genuine automation and platform testing maturity, not just throughput
