Union Organiser (3 positions available – 1 ongoing/2 fixed-term)

The National Tertiary Education Union (Victorian Division) covers staff employed in universities, associated companies, research institutes, TAFE, student unions and adult and community education. The Union’s membership includes Academic, General, Research and Skilled staff.

NTEU is seeking highly motivated, member focused individuals with experience in organising, recruitment and campaigning, either in a trade union or in social justice organisations. The successful applicants will be committed to building the trade union movement. There are three available positions:

- One Full-time, ongoing role (available from 17 October 2026);
- One full-time fixed-term contract for 14 months (available from 17 October 2026) and;
- One full-time fixed-term contract for 8 months (available immediately)

The successful candidates will initially be working across the universities in Victoria. You will be assigned a mix of duties,



including taking responsibility for the completion of organising, campaign, and administrative tasks or projects at the Branch level and state-wide. Travel between Branches will be expected and you may be allocated to other NTEU Branches in Victoria from time to time.

The positions will be filled at NTEU Level 5 or 6 ($102,629 – $127,020 FTE), depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
