Senior Payroll Officer – Sydney CBD (SSP Australia)

About the Role

SSP Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our team based in Sydney CBD . This role is responsible for delivering accurate and timely end-to-end payroll across Australia and New Zealand , ensuring compliance with legislation, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and company requirements.

You will work closely with the Payroll & People Services Manager , Payroll team and key stakeholders, providing payroll expertise, supporting compliance and reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems. Experience with IntelliHR, Humanforce and Payroll Metrics will be highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

- Process end-to-end weekly NZ and fortnightly AU payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Manage employee payroll changes including starters, leave, allowances, deductions and terminations.
- Perform payroll validations, reconciliations, audits and pre- and post-payroll checks.
- Investigate and resolve payroll enquiries, discrepancies and exceptions.
- Ensure compliance with Awards, Enterprise Agreements, NES, taxation and company requirements.
- Prepare payroll reports and support month-end, year-end and audit activities.
- Support payroll system testing, data validation and process improvements.

About You

- 2–4 years' payroll experience in a medium to large organisation.
- Experience processing end-to-end payroll in a complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation.
- Experience with reconciliations, reporting, audits and compliance.
- Strong Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
