About this roleFull-time ongoing position (part-time applications considered)Salary range: $113,668 - $131,153 plus superUp to $15,900 in salary packaging, versatile hybrid work arrangementAbout the roleIn this role, you will:Provide high-quality legal services in criminal law, family violence (including pre-court advice through Help Before Court and Pre-Court engagement) and if suitably qualified, youth crimeSupervise and mentor lawyers and build capability across the teamAppear in complex matters in the Magistrates Court, Children's Court (if qualified), and County CourtUse advanced legal expertise to manage complex and sensitive matters and support best practice across the teamThe Broadmeadows team provides legal services across criminal law, youth crime, family violence, family law, child protection and civil law. A large team of Independent Mental Health Advocates are also based in the region. Legal services are provided across two Magistrates' Courts (Broadmeadows and Seymour), the Specialist Children's Court (Broadmeadows), the Mental Health Tribunal, the AAT, VCAT and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Broadmeadows is located in the City of Hume which is home to a diverse population. The city has a rich cultural heritage, with many residents from different ethnic backgrounds.This role is based at our Broadmeadows office on Wurundjeri Country.About youAs our ideal candidate, you will possess:Extensive experience in complex criminal law, family violence and youth crime matters, including casework and advocacy.Advanced legal technical expertise and sound qualified judgement.A strong demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and support lawyers and senior lawyers,



providing them with guidance and helping them develop their skills and understanding.Strong communication skills and a client-centred approach to practice.A collaborative mindset and commitment to access to justice.A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).Entitled to practise in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction (entry on the High Court's Register of Practitioners).Don't meet every requirement?
