Canberra Child Psychiatry Centre – Deakin ACT

Two established, owner-operated Canberra practices are recruiting psychologists. The centres are run separately, with their own teams and their own client groups. Both practise with small, cohesive teams where psychology sits alongside medical and allied health colleagues rather than operating in isolation, with real multidisciplinary case discussion built into the week.

Canberra Child Psychiatry Centre — Deakin

A state-of-the-art, purpose-built centre providing child and adolescent psychiatry services, including ongoing care for young people transitioning to adulthood.

The team: two paediatric psychiatrists, a paediatrician, psychologists and two occupational therapists, sharing the clinic space and collaborating daily on shared clients. Owner-operated, with a focus on client care, clinician development, and a supportive, well-resourced practice that produces the best outcomes for clients and their families.

Presentations: the full range of paediatric and young adult work — anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, developmental coordination disorder, sensory processing difficulties, emerging personality vulnerabilities, disordered eating, personality disorder and complex family presentations.

Modalities: CBT, DBT, ACT, schema-informed work, supportive therapy and family work, matched to what the young person actually needs.

A multidisciplinary pain service providing assessment and treatment for adults living with persistent pain.

The team: Pain physicians and full allied health team, with access to varied specialists with our sister practice ACT Specialist Centre, working as a coordinated medical and allied health team around shared clients. Psychology is embedded in the model through both individual and group programs.





Presentations: chronic and persistent pain, workers compensation and Department of Veterans' Affairs and Defence clients, addiction, trauma, and the psychological presentations that commonly travel with long-term pain.

Modalities: ACT for chronic pain, EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, CBT, DBT and supportive work.

Key responsibilities

Individual consultations with clients and, where relevant, their families

Participation in multidisciplinary case discussion with medical and allied health colleagues

Record keeping in line with AHPRA and APS requirements

Communication with relevant stakeholders — schools, GPs, specialists, insurers, families and the internal allied health team

About you

Full AHPRA registration (Provisional psychologists will be considered on a case-by-case basis)

Current Working With Vulnerable People registration and police check

Interest in multidisciplinary practice — this is central to how both centres work

Hours and days are negotiable at both centres, with full-time and part-time options available. Remuneration is well above award and will be set according to your experience and scope.
