The primary purpose of the Drafting and Design role is to assist in working drawings, concept designing, internal prospecting, planning permit investigations preparation and submissions, BAL reports, site analysis of plans, site inspections, producing virtual reality imaging for marketing purposes, collaborating with the Swanbuild team, collaborating with council building permit applications and approvals, file content management, preparing planning reports, BIM duties, research of ecological sustainable design principles, and concept and design reports for commercial projects. The role involves acting as Drafting Council Liaison at Swanbuild, a research, manufacturing and marketing organisation involved in the production of custom made relocatable homes as well as commercial buildings for predominantly rural-based customers within a 300-500 kms+ radius of Swan Hill. The role requires the overall progression of projects from the client relationship managers through to the production team to help them meet production targets, achieving the correct quality parameters and effective use of staff and resources.

Key responsibilities

- Manage Swanbuild projects to the satisfaction of clients, owners and management
- Conduct regular meetings to ensure good communication from client relationship managers through to production
- Maintain strong program of proactive communication with customers and provide updated programs
- Ensure the team are focused on producing quality designs which meet customer expectations




- Reduce wastage through ensuring that the design is correct and all elements articulated from the start
- Produce designs that show flow and eliminate wasted space to the client's specifications
- Maintain strong communication with staff and contractors including regular meetings
- Provide regular communication with customers, client relationship managers and production team
- Contribute input into company-wide innovation and report to Board of Management and Directors
- Liaise with council planning and building officers

About you

- Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role
- Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Familiarity with 3D modelling tools
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Training in BIM Design
- Training for research of Ecological Sustainable Design (ESD)
- Customer centric approach
- Easy going personality and willingness to change
