Aligned Leisure is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Richmond Football Club, established as a vehicle to manage the operations of Richmond’s health, fitness and leisure business activities. Supported by the people and business systems of the Richmond Football Club, Aligned Leisure currently operates 53 leisure centres, community stadiums, pools, gyms, skate parks, gymnastics programs, theatres and other facilities throughout Victoria and New South Wales.

POSITION PURPOSE: n

The Swimming Squad Coach willbe responsible forcoaching swimmers inDoncaster Templestowe Swim Club’sprogram.This may includeDevelopment,Adults,Bronze, Silver, Goldlevelsand/orState and National level swimmers.

The Swimming Squad Coach will prioritise personal best, together with the welfare and development of each student and support swimmers to train and compete witha high levelof sportsmanship and support for their peers.Doncaster Templestowe Swim ClubSquad Coaches are continuouslyidentifyingand managing any safety risks and protecting swimmers under your care.

The Squad Coach will providehigh qualitycoachingto improve swimmers’ technique and ongoingdevelopment. Coacheswill berequiredat various internal and external meets/competitions.

They will take pride in supervising such an important community asset and ensure itis always presented immaculately andmaintainedto the highest standards. They willwork closely with the Swimming Lessons program to teach and develop future talent.

Squad Coachesmust be available to work a mixture of early morning, daytime,evening,and weekend shifts.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Coaching n

Provideahigh-qualityteaching environment to supportDoncaster Templestowe Swim Clubsquadmembers to achieve and thrive

n

Clear process for technique developmentand stroke correction

n

Best practice teaching methods with a growth mindset

n

Conduct coaching sessionsdailyfor all levels and abilities

n

Maintain qualifications and seek out learning opportunities

n

Experience and skill toidentifytalent and develop coaching programmes to progress swimmers atoptimalrate

n

Implementation/support Holiday intensive training schedules, learn to swim and technique sessions

n

Implement coaching programs for youth, adults and access all abilities

n

Providesquadplans each term for all aspects of the coaching program

n

Drive and increase the number of participants across all coaching programs by the agreed KPI each year

n

Support to establish new coaching programs based on community needs

n

Perform duties in line with procedures and training

n

Welcome and educate new participants so they feel comfortable in the aquatic workplace

n

Assistto develop a Performance Training and Competition Plan and work with coaches to confirm same across other squads

n

Assistto develop an Annual Schedule of activities

2. Health and Safety of all staff and customers n

Identifypotential risks to safety and take steps to reduce those risks

n

Implement andmonitorcompliance to policies and procedures

n

Discuss health and safety with other staff, on every shift

n

Oversee the evacuation of the aquatic environmentin accordance withprocedures asrequired

n

Act as Area Warden for the aquatic areawhen instructed

n

Riskassesseswork instructions toidentifyany hazards and act to rectify any identified risks

n

Ensure the dissemination of OHS,



Risk and Environment information to any staff working in the aquatic area relevant to their roles and responsibilities.

4.General duties and administration n

Provide the frontline service for all facility programs and services

n

Proactively address all enquiries, ensuring that suitable outcomes are provided to each individual customer

n

Ensure all reports, checklists and procedures are completed and signed off by the Duty Captain

n

TheSquad coachmay from time to time berequiredto undertake other tasks as directed by the Duty Captain, HeadCoachor Leisure Manager

Essential Qualifications andExperience: n

Employee Working With Children Check

n

CPR

n

Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification

n

Teacher of Competitive Strokes

n

Development Coach qualification(highly desirable)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: n

Minimum two years' experience in swimming coaching or teaching, with a demonstrated understanding of competitive swimming.

Current Pool Lifeguard Award -SISSS00111Pool Lifeguard

n
