SESA – Safety & Environmental Services Australia is looking for an experienced microbiology analyst to join our small friendly team at SESALAB (NATA Accredited) providing analytical services for mould and bacteria (environmental microbiology samples) as well as asbestos analysis of bulk samples and soil.

n

To complement the lab work, you will enjoy doing field work including inspection of various sites, sampling of bulk materials, surfaces, air and water for microbiological contaminants and hazardous materials and gain skills in occupational hygiene consulting services.

n

To be considered for this role you will ideally have:

n

A relevant tertiary qualification in microbiology, environmental microbiology, aerobiology, environmental science or a related field

n

Experience in analysing microbiology samples, preparation of cultures (mould, yeast, bacteria), plating, slides mounting, optical microscopy and identification

n

Experience in analysis of Legionella, E. Coli, Coliforms and other bacteria in environmental samples

n

Experience in writing and maintaining laboratory standard operating procedures

n

Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment

n

Understanding of ISO 17025 standard and contribute to ongoing improvements of laboratory procedures and the laboratory quality manual

n

Processing of laboratory data, records and preparation of analytical reports

n





Ability to undertake field sampling, building inspections and prepare detailed assessment reports

n

Laboratory supervisor experience is an advantage

n

Business development experience will be highly regarded

n

To be successful in the role you will:

n

Have more than 3 years experience in similar role

n

Have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong customer service skills

n

Be career oriented

n

Have outstanding scientific report writing skills

n

Be able to work independently and as part of a team and with minimal supervision

n

Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

n

Be flexible to work outside normal business hours and travel on jobs if required

n

Have excellent organisational skills, job management and project management skills and attention to details

n

Have good knowledge of current health and safety legislation and awareness.

n
