Bridge to Bay Logistics Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Customs Broker to join our team on a contract or casual basis . Based in Sydney, NSW , this role is pivotal to our operations, ensuring seamless management of customs clearance, import/export compliance, and regulatory adherence. As a Customs Broker, you will be the critical link between our clients, shipping partners, and Australian Border Force, managing the complexities of international trade documentation and customs procedures. Key responsibilities n

Preparing and lodging customs declarations, entry documents, and export permits with the appropriate customs authorities

n

Ensuring compliance with all relevant Australian customs legislation, tariff classifications, and import/export regulations

n

Advising clients on customs procedures, duties, taxes, and regulatory requirements for imported and exported goods

n

Managing customs clearance processes for containerised and non-containerised shipments

n

Liaising with shipping companies, freight forwarders, warehouse operators, and government authorities to facilitate smooth cargo movement

n

Calculating and arranging payment of customs duties, taxes, and other applicable charges

n

Resolving customs issues, queries, and discrepancies with the Australian Border Force and other regulatory bodies

n

Maintaining accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes

n





Providing clients with timely updates on shipment status and customs clearance progress

n

Staying current with changes in customs regulations, tariff codes, and international trade agreements

What we're looking for n

Active Customs Broker's Licence issued by the Australian Border Force (ABF) or current eligibility to obtain one

n

Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a Customs Broker or in a similar customs clearance role

n

In-depth knowledge of Australian Customs Act, Tariff Act, and relevant import/export legislation

n

Strong understanding of tariff classification, rules of origin, and preferential trade agreements

n

Proficiency with customs management systems and cargo tracking software

n

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex customs procedures clearly to clients

n

Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple shipments simultaneously

n

Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with team members and external stakeholders

n

Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to navigate regulatory challenges and find practical solutions

n

Professional demeanour and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards

n





Experience with international shipping procedures, including sea, air, and rail freight, is advantageous
