The Finance team is an integral part of the Walkinshaw Group – we’re currently 800+ staff and looking to grow further. The position will primarily support the Automotive businesses which design, engineer and remanufacture more than 12,000 vehicles each year (GMSV & RAM) and distribute parts and accessories in domestic and export markets. The Walkinshaw Group has a long history and over the past three years it has undergone a period of significant change and is looking for an enthusiastic candidate willing to learn about the automotive manufacturing business in a broad-based financial role.

What you'll be doing

n

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller of the Automotive business, you will be responsible for running the day-to-day accounting and finance tasks, including month end processes, whilst driving accuracy and ensuring integrity of the financial data. The role will be ‘hands on’ and form an integral part of driving accuracy and integrity with the financial data.

You will also play an active role in continuous improvement for accounting by involvement in various projects. By collaborating with the various stakeholders, you will have true insight across the business and collaborate with the Financial Controller to provide these insights to the Leadership team.

The main objectives of this role include the following:

n

Work with the broader finance function and stakeholders to assist with the monthly financial close in a timely and accurate manner from end to end

n

Collaborate with the Financial Controller in providing timely and accurate financial information to the Leadership Team

n

Ensure timely completion of the Group’s statutory reporting requirements.

n

Ownership of posting monthly journals

n

Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and financial systems

n

Maintain general ledger accuracy and deliver timely financial results

n

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, manage risks/opportunities, and support internal/external audits

n

Partner with FP&A; to deliver budgets, forecasts, and performance analysis

n

Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting efficiencies

n

Control income, cash flow and expenditure

n

Support group consolidation, including inter-company reconciliations, eliminations, and loan balances

n

Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset management

n

Ensuring Inventory and cost accounting are accurate

n

Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations including GST, FBT, PAYG, company and payroll tax

n

Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliations,



and forecasts

n

Maintain compliance with governance frameworks, policies, and Delegations of Financial Authority (DFA)

n

Build strong working relationships with finance, commercial, and operational teams.

What we're looking for in a successful candidate

n

Finance / Business Degree Qualification

n

CPA / CA Qualification

n

A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a Big4/mid-tier firm - candidates making their first move from Big 4/mid-tier professional practice are encouraged to apply

n

Demonstrated high level of technical expertise in financial accounting requirements and practices, including a high level of analytical skills

n

Experience in Manufacturing and/or FMCG is an advantage

n

Dynamic and results driven with strong business acumen

n

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to tight deadlines

n

A hands-on, collaborative, and engaging attitude

n

Advanced Excel skills and ERP literacy

n

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

n
