An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried GP to work within Haslington Surgery, alongside experienced GP Partners and Salaried GPs.

Working Pattern n
The role is for a maximum of six sessions per week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, both AM and PM. There is an opportunity to increase to eight sessions within the next 12 to 18 months.
Role Requirements – Essential n
n
- Up to date GMC registration with a licence to practice.
n
- Previous general practice experience.
n
- Robust clinical leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, and IT skills are essential.
n
Main Duties of the Job n
Brief overview of the role:
n
n
- Completion of consultations using a mixture of face‑to‑face and telephone methods.
n
- Use of Accurx to engage and communicate with patients – online consultation and communication with patients will form part of the job role.
n
- Involvement in On‑Call GP on a fair‑share basis.
n
- Involvement in the Care Home LES, supporting our Care Home patients on a fair‑share basis.
n
- Involvement in our own Extended Access clinics on a fair‑share basis (weekends from 6:30 pm to 8 pm).
n
- Involvement in Flu and COVID vaccine clinics.
n
- Other clinics, to the interest of the post holder.
n
- Participation in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
n
- Involvement in audits to improve the practice.
n
Job Responsibilities n
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
n
n
- In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties,
including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
n
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health‑care workers within the organisation.
n
- Assessing the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
n
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
n
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
n
- Providing counselling and health education.
n
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
n
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
n
- Compiling and issuing computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible).
n
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
n
- Undertaking all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
n
- Delivering all requirements of the DES and the LES, as seen fit by the business, including visits to care homes and patients' homes to deliver services.
n
- Adjusting to accommodate business needs,
in light of new or unforeseen developments. For example COVID.
n
- Active participation in local initiatives, including QOF work.
n
- Delivering all requirements of the DES and LES, through the PCN and CCG.
n
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation n
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
n

- A commitment to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
n
- Contribution to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
n
- Contribution to the development of computer‑based patient records.
n
- Contribution to summarising patient records and read‑coding patient data.
n
- Attendance at training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
n
Qualifications nn
- Qualified GP
n
- MRCGP
n
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
n
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
n
- Full GMC registration
n
- Performers List registration noting that confirmation on this list is adequate for DBS confirmation
n
- Evidence of current validation
n
- Evidence of last appraisal
n
- Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
n
- Experience of medicines management
n
- Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
n
- Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced services
n
- Knowledge of health promotion strategies
n
- Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required
n
