Site Surveillance Officer – Civil Construction | NSW Public Works

Location: Moree, NSW – regular travel throughout Moree Plains Shire Council LGA
Contract: 8 November 2026 – 30 April 2027
Pay Rate: $62.19 per hour + Super
Hours: 35 hours per week | 7 hours per day

APG Workforce is seeking an experienced Site Surveillance Officer to support NSW Public Works (NSWPW) on civil infrastructure works across the Moree Plains Shire Council area.

n

This role will provide an on-site presence for NSWPW, monitoring road and drainage construction works to ensure contractors are meeting required safety, environmental, quality and contractual standards.
n About the Role Working autonomously across project sites throughout the Moree region, you will monitor construction activities, contractor compliance and progress while supporting the broader project delivery team.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Conducting site surveillance of contracted road and drainage construction works.
n
- Undertaking safety, environmental and quality inspections in accordance with NSWPW guidelines and checklists.
n
- Monitoring contractor compliance with approved systems, procedures and project requirements.
n
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of works on site.
n
- Acting as the NSWPW on-site representative.
n
- Identifying issues requiring contractor attention and escalating matters where appropriate.
n
- Undertaking minor contract administration tasks in support of the Contract Administrator.
n




- Reviewing and interpreting contractual and technical documentation and design drawings.
n
- Collating works completion evidence, including site photographs, for inclusion in Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements progress claims.
n
- Travelling regularly to construction sites throughout the Moree Plains Shire Council Local Government Area.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

n

n
- Previous experience as a Construction Site Supervisor, Project Engineer or Project Manager within road construction or civil construction.
n
- Experience working in reactive soil/black soil environments .
n
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, particularly road and drainage works.
n
- The ability to read and understand contractual and technical documentation and interpret design drawings.
n
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document site activities and construction progress.
n
- The ability to work autonomously across remote project sites, with regular weekly check-ins with the Program Manager and delivery team.
n
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging directly with contractors regarding compliance or issues requiring attention.
n
- Sound judgement and an understanding of when issues need to be escalated.
n
- A current NSW Driver Licence .
n

This chance would suit an experienced civil construction professional who is comfortable working independently in the field and has a strong understanding of contractor surveillance, compliance and road construction activities.
