Sullivan Bloodstock Pty Ltd located in Victoria's Goulburn Valley are currently accepting applicants full-time for the role of Veterinary Nurse/Technician.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

Veterinary Nurse/Technician

n

Duties will include:

n

n
- 1. Consult with external and internal veterinarians regarding the care and condition of mares and foals, walk-in mares and mares on the main farm
n
- 2. Consult with external and internal veterinarians and stud managers regarding the care and condition of horses in quarantine
n
- 3. Manage veterinary procedures with supervision
n
- 4. Oversee the daily care and supervision of bloodstock
n
- 5. Report on mares and foaling
n
- 6. Keep a foaling record of mares for veterinarians
n
- 7. A dminister medical treatment to foals as well as attending to medical and health needs of mares as required
n
- 8. Manage and on-call (including nights) for complex foaling's
n




- 9. Ensuring mare has milk and foals suckle for the first time and receive their colostrum
n
- 10. Providing pre and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
n
- 11. Overseeing daily care and supervision of breeding mares and foals
n
- 12. Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
n
- 13. Ensuring feeding and nutritional requirements of horses are met daily
n
- 14. Assist external and internal veterinarians regarding on farm surgeries
n
- 15. During the yearling season, train and prepare horses for major sales including t eaching horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.

The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $85,000 per annum depending upon the skill set and level of responsibility.

Essential Skills:

n

All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time skilled experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.
