Job Description
n
The Head of Curation is responsible for leading the content strategy, speaker programming, and community engagement across all Mumbrella events. Reporting to the Editorial Director, this role will work closely with the Events, Marketing, and Commercial teams to deliver high quality live experiences. Events covered include all those currently scheduled for 2026/27, as well as any new or revived events that are planned in subsequent years according to business chance and audience demand. The current roster of 12 events includes Mumbrella's Marketing Summit series (Finance, Travel), Mumbrella360, CommsCon, the Mumbrella Awards, Remade, and the Compass intercity series.
Key responsibilities n
Understanding and engaging with the subjects of central importance to the target audiences, including all aspects of media and marketing as covered by Mumbrella
n
Produce written content about events for marketing and editorial purpose
n
Developing ongoing relationships within relevant industry groups
n
Develop and manage the awards program strategy, including refinement and evolution of categories, and act as the key contact for awards-related inquiries
n
Work effectively with the Events team to provide or commission schedules, respond to award category inquiries,
promotional materials, and whatever other assets are required
n
Collaborate with the marketing team to align promotional efforts with content strategy, ensuring strong messaging, audience growth, and brand consistency
n
Appear on stage at events to moderate, introduce and otherwise ensure the success of the event, and represent Mumbrella as necessary
n
Manage and direct freelance staff to assist with the combined event curation workload
n
Work closely with the Commercial Director to make sure events maximise revenue opportunities without sacrificing audience engagement
About you n
Deep knowledge of the marketing, media and agency world in Australia
n
Natural curiosity and understanding what engages marketing/media audiences
n
An ability to hit agreed deadlines through the year is essential
n
Ability to write well
n
Demonstrate values and behaviours that support a positive company culture
n
Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures and report any issues immediately
n
Demonstrate the highest standard of ethical behaviour in all activities
n
Ability to work from the Glebe office minimum 4 days per week.
