Gum Nut Preschool and Childcare is seeking an enthusiastic experienced Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) to join our team for 2027.

Position Overview: You will work as part of a supportive team in our 3-year-old funded kindergarten. You will collaborate with the team to create a stimulating, supportive, and enriching environment where children can thrive, explore, and learn through play. Your role will involve nurturing each child's unique developmental journey, fostering positive relationships with families, and work closely with our team to deliver high-quality early childhood education and care. Our programs include both on-site and off-site (introduction to bush kinder) components, therefore a love for nature and an emphasis on sustainability are significant.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide exemplary care and education to 3-year-old children in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Develop and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment that promotes a sense of belonging for both children and families.

Establish strong partnerships with families, maintaining open communication and sharing insights into children's progress and achievements.

Support the Room Leader ECT and act as a role model and mentor to other educators, providing guidance and support in line with Gum Nut's values and philosophy.

Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our programs and practices, participating in team meetings, planning sessions,



and professional development opportunities.

Work collaboratively with the room team alongside teachers and educators from other rooms, the educational leader, and the centre director.

Engage with both on-site and off-site (bush kinder) programs, supporting children in various environments and promoting sustainability.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent qualification recognised by ACECQA).

VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) registration.

Previous experience working in a childcare setting, preferably focusing on 3-year-old kindergarten.

Sound understanding of the National Quality Standards (NQS), National Regulations, and relevant legislation governing the childcare sector.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Passion for sustainability, connecting children to the real world, and creating a nurturing home-away-from-home environment.

Experience in bush kinder programs is ideal but not mandatory.

A can-do attitude, willingness to learn, and flexibility are vital.
