About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and capable Legal Secretary to join our family law team.

This is a varied and rewarding role working closely with an Associate family lawyer and the wider team, from time to time. You will play an key role in supporting the team, communicating with clients and supporting the lawyers to ensure our clients receive great service.

You will be involved in the day-to-day progression of matters and will have the opportunity to develop your legal knowledge, take on meaningful responsibility, and be supported to reach your career goals. The role will suit someone who enjoys being involved in the work, understands the importance of getting the detail right and takes satisfaction in keeping things moving.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing high-level legal and administrative support to our family law solicitors
- Assisting with the day-to-day management of client files
- Preparing correspondence, legal documents, file notes and other required documentation




- Conducting legal and factual research as required
- Assisting with opening and closing files
- Liaising with prospective and current clients, counsel, experts, and other solicitors
- Managing appointments, meetings, deadlines and competing priorities
- Maintaining accurate and well-organised electronic and physical files
- Assisting with court, registry and other procedural requirements where appropriate
- Monitoring follow-ups, outstanding tasks and important dates
- Assisting with time recording and general matter administration
- Daily trust receipting and end-of-month invoicing
- Collating and indexing disclosure
- Assisting with diary management, scheduling and general organisation
- Supporting the broader team and contributing to the efficient operation of the practice

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, switched-on, takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a great (and fun) team.

You will ideally:

- Have previous experience in a legal secretary, paralegal or similar legal support role (while this is advantageous, it is not essential, and if you are curious and a fast learner, we encourage you to apply)
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have strong attention to detail and accuracy




- Be able to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- Be proactive and comfortable taking ownership of tasks
- Have strong client service skills
- Be confident working independently while also being a supportive team member
- Be discreet and understand the importance of confidentiality
- Be comfortable with technology and document-management systems
- Be someone who is willing to ask questions, learn and continuously improve
