The Opportunity n
We are seeking an experienced Senior Solicitor to join our growing team, with a primary focus on family law and commercial law.
n
This position is suited to a confident and compassionate solicitor who can manage matters autonomously while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary practice.
n
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of their files, contribute to the growth of the firm and help mentor and develop junior team members.
Key Responsibilities n
The role will include:
n
n
- Managing family law matters, including parenting, property settlement, divorce, financial agreements and consent orders;
n
- Advising and representing clients in negotiations, mediation, dispute resolution and court proceedings;
n
- Preparing court documents, affidavits, correspondence and written legal advice;
n
- Managing commercial law matters,
including business sales and purchases, shareholder and partnership arrangements, commercial agreements, leases and contractual disputes;
n
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and other legal documents;
n
- Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice;
n
- Managing files, deadlines, billing and client expectations independently;
n
- Working collaboratively with the firm’s property, estate planning and other practice teams;
n
- Identifying opportunities to provide clients with comprehensive, multidisciplinary legal support;
n
- Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors, paralegals and support staff where required;
n
- Participating in business development, professional education and the ongoing improvement of the firm’s systems and precedents; and
n
- Maintaining the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality and professional conduct.
n
About You n
The successful candidate will ideally have:
n
n
- A current Australian practising certificate;
n
- At least five years’ post-admission experience, although strong candidates with comparable experience will be considered;
n
- Demonstrated experience in family law, commercial law or both;
n
- Experience managing matters with minimal supervision;
n
- Strong drafting, negotiation, advocacy and problem-solving skills;
n
- A sound understanding of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth),
relevant court procedures and applicable commercial legislation;
n
- Excellent organisation and file-management skills;
n
- Strong professional judgement and attention to detail;
n
- The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and without unnecessary jargon;
n
- A genuine commitment to client care and achieving practical outcomes;
n
- A collaborative and respectful approach to working within a team; and
n
- An interest in contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm.
n
n
Experience in property law, estate planning, estate administration or general litigation will be highly regarded but is not essential.
