Assistant District Attorney: Appeals Unit - Hampden District Attorney's Office

n

The Hampden District Attorney’s Office seeks applicants for the position of Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Unit.

Responsibilities n

n
- The candidate should have superior research and writing skills;
n
- Prior clerkship or law review experience is desirable;
n
- Research, draft, file, and argue complex and high-profile appellate cases in the SJC and Appeals Court;
n
- Research, draft, file, and argue post-conviction matters in the superior, district and juvenile courts;
n
- Provide legal advice to other assistant district attorneys in the office;
n

Payroll is paid bi-weekly and based on a 37.5 hour work week (normally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check. All positions serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney.

Qualifications n

n
- Required: law school graduate from an accredited law school (Juris Doctorate Degree); Solid communication, research, writing, and computer skills.
n
- To be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook)
n
- To be familiar with and to follow the provisions of the Hampden District Attorney's Office Personnel Policies; Assistant district attorneys must be familiar with and adhere to the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct;
n
- To participate in trainings relevant to Office functions;
n
- To interact in a respectful and professional manner with the public, judicial, law enforcement personnel, and office staff;
n
- To complete work assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
