About the role

As a Technical Officer of Sports Turf & Parks & Gardens you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of education services through the maintenance of delivery locations and equipment, preparation and distribution of teaching resources and other related support and administrative functions.

This is a permanent full-time position based at TAFE NSW Ryde Campus.



Your duties will encompass the maintenance of various sports surfaces, including a bowling green, two golf greens, fairway and cricket wickets ensuring they meet the specific standards of maintenance. This involves:

- Using plant and equipment for precision cutting of sports turf surfaces
- Monitoring and implementation of pest disease and weed control programs to meet specific turfgrass and site requirements
- Monitoring of sports turf areas and scheduling of irrigation to maintain playing surfaces to industry standards
- Irrigation system maintenance and repairs
- Compliance with relevant legislation in chemical selection application and recordkeeping
- Supporting the delivery team where preparation of turf areas is required for teacher directed class activities.

About you

You are a self-motivated starter, with current industry experience and knowledge, effective communication skills and an eye for detail.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Hold a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, Parks & Gardens or a horticulture related discipline or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience appropriate to the role.
- Hold a current Chemical application ticket AQF3 level or above.
- Have demonstrated technical knowledge and experience of use,



care and maintenance of tools, equipment, materials and techniques used in sports turf management.
- Have a proven ability to create, modify or adapt equipment or other resources to meet requirements.
- Have strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
