Job Description
Disability Support Worker | Community Access, SIL & Sleepovers | Illawarra n
Invigorate Ability Pty Ltd – Wollongong NSW
About the role n
Invigorate Ability is growing in the Illawarra, and we need more Disability Support Workers who can work weekends, afternoons and evenings, and who are happy to do sleepover shifts in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home.
n
You will support NDIS participants at home and out in the community across Wollongong, Shellharbour and the wider Illawarra. Some shifts are 1:1 community participation: heading to the swimming pool, the shopping centre, afternoon commitments, sensory activities or in-home supports. Others are in our SIL home at Huntley, where you help participants with daily living and, on a sleepover, stay overnight so they feel safe at home.
n
This is a part-time role, with casual options also available. We are building a bigger local team so every participant can be matched with workers they know and get along with.
The shifts we need filled n
n
- Weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)
n
- Afternoon and evening supports
n
- Community participation supports, 1:1 out in the community
n
- SIL shifts in our Huntley home
n
- Sleepover shifts (overnight, with the sleepover allowance)
n
n
You don't need to cover all of these, but the more flexible you are, the more hours we can offer.
What you'll do n
n
- Support participants with daily living, personal care, meals and household tasks
n
- Help participants get out into the community and do the things they enjoy
n
- Encourage independence and new skills, like cooking, budgeting and getting around on their own
n
- Follow Behaviour Support Plans,
risk assessments and health plans where they apply
n
- Write clear, accurate shift notes after every shift
n
- Work with your team leader, the operations manager and allied health professionals
n
About you nn
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Disability or Community Services, or currently studying one
n
- Experience as a Disability Support Worker, ideally in SIL and/or community participation
n
- Availability on weekends, afternoons and evenings, and willingness to do sleepovers
n
- A current driver's licence and a reliable, insured car, as you will travel across the Illawarra
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to apply)
n
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willing to get them)
n
- A calm, patient and reliable approach, and positive written English for shift notes
n
Why work with us? nn
- We are a locally owned Registered NDIS Provider, started in 2020 by a former support worker. Our director still occasionally works shifts and knows every participant
n
- Proper training: 34 online iinduct modules plus face-to-face introductory shifts at our sites
n
- The same participants each week, with rosters planned carefully so hours stay manageable, and nobody burns out
n
- Weekend, evening and sleepover rates under the SCHADS Award
n
- A small, friendly team, with team leaders and management who answer the phone and have your back
n
n
Our four values guide how we work: person-centred community, compassion with professional boundaries, accountability and reliability, and growth, learning and excellence. We are all about ability, not disability.
