We are working with a specialised community service in Townsville seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to support an established paediatric caseload. With flexibility around contract length, travel and work arrangements, this could be a great prospect for a Cairns-based clinician looking to FIFO to Townsville, take on a short-term contract, or consider relocating to Townsville while enjoying the flexibility to travel between North Queensland locations.

The Opportunity

n

This is a specialised Speech Pathology service with a strong focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) clients, predominantly supporting children aged 0-6 years, with some school-aged and early teen clients.

n

You'll work across a varied caseload, including:

n

n
- Paediatric speech and language assessment and intervention
n
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients and families
n
- Clients with complex and dual diagnoses
n
- First Nations families and clients, including those in remote communities
n
- Home, school and clinic-based services
n
- Telehealth for remote families
n
- Outreach between Townsville, Mackay and Cairns
n

n

The majority of interventions are short-term, with a strong focus on assessment, therapy programs, monitoring and supporting families rather than managing long-term caseloads.

n

Swallowing experience is not required - the focus is on standard speech and language skills.

n

- Above-award remuneration - permanent rates approximately $49-$58/hr, depending on experience, with casual rates of up to approximately $72/hr

About You

n

We're looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who can confidently step into an established caseload and work independently.

n

You'll ideally have:

n

n
- Current Speech Pathology Australia registration
n
- Previous paediatric experience
n
- Strong speech and language assessment and intervention skills
n
- Confidence working with families and other professionals
n
- A flexible and adaptable approach to clinical practice
n
- Strong communication and family engagement skills
n
- An interest in developing your skills within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing space
n

DHH experience is highly regarded but not essential - full training and clinical support will be provided.

n
