About the role



We are seeking a skilled Lawyer with commercial litigation and/or commercial experience to join ABH Legal on a contract basis, based at our North Strathfield, NSW office. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of litigation and commercial disputes whilst contributing to the strategic objectives of our practice.



The role will provide exposure to:




- Commercial litigation;

- Insolvency and bankruptcy;

- Debt recovery and enforcement;

- Shareholder and partnership disputes;

- Other litigious and dispute resolution matters;

- General corporate and commercial; and

- Finance.




Key responsibilities




- Managing and conducting litigation matters from initial advice through to resolution, including discovery, witness preparation and court appearances;

- Drafting legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, notices of motion, submissions, advices and correspondence;

- Providing strategic commercial legal advice on dispute prevention and risk mitigation;

- Advising on contractual disputes and commercial transactions;





- Conducting legal research and analysis on complex commercial and litigation issues;

- Briefing and working with counsel;

- Representing clients in negotiations and alternative dispute resolution;

- Maintaining accurate file management and meeting all professional and regulatory obligations;

- Contributing to business development and client relationships; and

- Collaborating with the Principal, other solicitors and support staff to deliver quality outcomes.




What we're looking for




- Admitted to practice in New South Wales with a current practising certificate;

- 1 - 3 years' post-admission experience;

- You can write. Clear, tight and persuasive;

- Work ethic that shows in the detail. You own the file, you follow it through, you don't need reminding twice;

- Confident dealing with clients, counsel, the courts and other solicitors; and

- Experience with Smokeball legal software (not mandatory but preferred).
