Sodexo is seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Supervisor to join our Technical Services team at the University of Greenwich's Avery Hill Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled team of engineers within a dynamic higher education environment, helping to create safe, efficient and exceptional living and learning spaces for thousands of students and staff.

About the Role n

Working at Avery Hill offers a unique blend of contemporary facilities, green open spaces and a vibrant campus community. No two days are the same, and you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable operation of critical building services across our student residential estate.

What you’ll do n

n
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of multi-skill engineers.
n
- Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of M&E; systems across student accommodation buildings.
n
- Coordinate reactive and planned maintenance activities through our CAFM system (MAXIMO).
n
- Ensure all statutory compliance, health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to.
n
- Act as a key technical expert, supporting fault diagnosis and resolution across electrical and mechanical systems.
n




- Manage contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring quality, safety and value for money.
n
- Support recruitment, training, performance management and career development within the engineering team.
n
- Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews to maintain operational excellence.
n
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering Lead, Facilities Management team and University stakeholders.
n
- Manage critical spare stock and materials to support service continuity.
n
- Undertake the role of Low Voltage Authorised Person (LV AP) for the campus.
n

What you’ll bring n

We’re interested in hearing from experienced building services professionals who combine strong technical knowledge with excellent people management skills.

Essential Experience & Qualifications n

n
- HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
n
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a building services or facilities management environment.
n
- Previous experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
n
- Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance within commercial or public sector environments.
n
- Experience managing contractors and service providers.
n
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
n
- Competent IT user with experience of CAFM systems.
n




- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
n

Desirable nn
- IOSH Managing Safely.
n
- Previous Authorised Person (AP) appointment in LV, Mechanical Services, Pressure Systems, Confined Spaces or similar.
n
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
n
- Experience working in complex university, healthcare, heritage or large public-sector estates.
n
- Institute of Leadership & Management membership.
n
- Emergency First Aid qualification.
n
