Better Fresh Leaf (BFL) is a joint venture in advanced autonomous Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) with a fully automated growing system delivering sustainable, ultra-premium produce. The role of Head of Maintenance holds direct accountability for all maintenance operations onsite by keeping plant, equipment and infrastructure operating and maintained to the highest engineering, efficiency, quality and safety standards at all times. You will oversee all installation, commissioning, servicing, upgrades and technical support across a diverse machinery portfolio including seeding, growing, cutting, grading, packing and palletising equipment.

Key responsibilities

n

Oversee all maintenance operations onsite and maintain plant, equipment and infrastructure to the highest engineering, efficiency, quality and safety standards

n

Develop and own the preventative maintenance schedule across all plant, equipment and infrastructure onsite, including climate control, automation, boilers, irrigation, fertigation, mechanical, machinery and electrical

n

Utilise engineering techniques to study data and identify root cause of equipment failure, and design long term solutions to prevent problems reoccurring

n

Develop and oversee annual maintenance operating budgets, manage CAPEX planning and expenditure and asset lifecycle strategies

n

Ensure industrial systems support operations to deliver high-product quality year-round that meets Freshcare, HARPS, HACCP and SEDEX standards

n

Systematically manage sourcing, vetting, onboarding,



supervising and evaluating external workers and third party vendors

n

Engage, consult and build rapport with employees regularly to support an open, respectful, professional culture.

About you

n

Trade Qualification.

n

Current Drivers Licence

n

3+ years of demonstrated experience in Maintenance Management roles, with proven hands-on fresh produce production floor experience

n

Strong proficiency in Production Operations, including ability to make decisions quickly and effectively in a fast paced, seasonal environment

n

Strong fault finding and diagnostic capabilities, ideally in produce packing environments

n

Strong computer literacy with MS Office 365; Production ERP and WMS experience

n

A positive, solutions focused leader with the ability to build rapport quickly

n

Proactive, people-focused individual who enjoys supporting others and building positive workplace culture

n

Solid attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
