Northfleet is the largest fleet provider in the Pilbara, with 20+ years in the region and multiple WA depots. As the finance team grows, this role will be the technical backbone of our financial systems, ensuring our ERP platform supports accurate, timely and well-controlled reporting across the group.

Role Purpose

The Systems Accountant is responsible for the integrity, configuration and continuous improvement of Northfleet’s finance systems, primarily Northfleet’s Odoo ERP system, This position will act as a key link between business stakeholders (operational and finance teams), IT and external vendors to deliver optimised systems solutions. This role combines hands-on accounting knowledge with system administration skills – analysing and troubleshooting issues, building reports, maintaining controls, and driving automation so the broader Finance team can close the books faster and analyse the business with confidence.

This is as hands on, solutions focused role requiring a team-oriented working style.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Administration & Configuration

- Administer and configure Odoo ERP across finance modules (GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory/stock, and any integrated modules such as fleet/asset maintenance or payroll interfaces)
- Manage user access, roles and permissions in line with segregation-of-duties and internal control requirements
- Own the chart of accounts structure, master data (customers, suppliers, items, cost centres) and data governance across the system
- Act as contact for Odoo issues raised by finance and operational users that cannot be resolved by IT Help Desk: liaise with the Odoo partner/vendor or internal IT for escalations and upgrades

User Acceptance & Competence

- Work with operational and functional stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding of the Odoo ERP system,



including the importance of accurate use of the system and how the system will benefit them in their roles, optimising user buy in.
- Effective change management
- Identify and train Odoo super users
- Manage user access, roles and permissions in line with segregation-of-duties and internal control requirements
- Own the chart of accounts structure, master data (customers, suppliers, items, cost centres) and data governance across all systems

Reporting & Process Improvement

- Build and maintain automated reports, dashboards and reconciliation processes within Odoo to reduce manual work in month-end close
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows (AP/AR processing, bank feeds, intercompany transactions, multi-depot consolidation) and implement system-driven solutions
- Support integration between Odoo and other business systems (e.g. payroll, fleet management, banking) including data mapping and reconciliation

Month-End & Financial Support

- Support the Financial Controller and management accounting team during month-end and year-end close, particularly where system-driven journals, allocations or reconciliations are involved
- Investigate and resolve system-related discrepancies in financial data (GL reconciliations, subledger-to-GL variances, stock/inventory postings)
- Assist with statutory reporting and audit requests by ensuring data extracted from the system is accurate, complete and well-documented

Projects & Continuous Improvement





- Lead and drive systems improvements
- Engage with stakeholders to gain their feedback on potential systems improvements
- Lead or support system upgrade projects, module rollouts, and new depot/entity onboarding within Odoo
- Document system processes, controls and configuration decisions for training and audit purposes
- Train finance and operational staff on system functionality and best-practice use

About You:

- CA/CPA qualified (or working towards), with a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related field
- Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and configuring Odoo ERP in a finance context (essential)
- Solid understanding of core accounting processes – GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory – and how they translate into system configuration
- Strong Excel skills; SQL or reporting-tool experience highly regarded
- Experience in a multi-entity or multi-site environment is advantageous; exposure to transport, logistics, hire or asset-heavy industries is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort acting as a translator between “finance” and “systems” for non-technical stakeholders
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support users across the business, including operational and finance teams
- Exceptional change management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Business improvement mindset
