About the Role

n

The Kitchen Coordinator will report directly to the Head of Campus and is expected to work collaboratively with all staff and young people in the school. The primary role of Kitchen Coordinator is a stand‐alone role that will be required to prepare and provide healthy meals to the young people who attend Gympie Flexible School.

About You

n

We are seeking someone who is organised, flexible and able to work independently while also contributing positively to a multidisciplinary campus team. Previous hospitality experience and/or relevant qualifications as a chef or cook are highly desirable, together with demonstrated experience in preparing healthy meals and an understanding of protected food preparation, storage and service. Basic campus utility tasks are also an occasional requirement of this role.

Key Attributes and Experience

n

n
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system of schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
n
- Previous experience and/or certificate level qualifications in the hospitality industry (Chef or Cook desirable).
n
- Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain within first 3 months of employment.
n
- Currently hold or ability to obtain a Food Handler Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (within first 3 months of employment).
n




- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the preparation of meals in line with healthy eating guidelines (SMART CHOICES).
n
- Knowledge of the use and care of equipment utilised in the preparation of school meals.
n
- Ability to share knowledge in the application of safe food practices in the preparation, storage and provision of meals with staff and young people.
