Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration Technician

$48-$50+ per hour + super | Company Vehicle + Fuel Card | Queensland

Mergent Group is partnering with a long-established commercial refrigeration contractor seeking experienced technicians to join its service and installation team.

n

You'll work across a broad mix of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment, with experienced technical managers available when the more difficult jobs come up.

n

What you'll be working on

n

The equipment and sites are genuinely varied and can include:

n

n
- Supermarket multi-compressor rack systems
n
- Commercial and industrial refrigeration plant
n
- CO2 and newer low-GWP refrigerant systems
n
- Large cold-storage and freezer facilities
n
- Individual condensing units and self-contained equipment
n
- Fast-cooling facilities
n
- Fruit-ripening and fumigation rooms
n
- Custom display and storage refrigeration systems
n
- Dry-age meat and cold-plate display cases
n
- Electronic refrigeration controllers and monitoring systems
n
- Older plant requiring strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
n

This is a role where you'll have the opportunity to understand complete refrigeration systems, develop your controls knowledge and continue building your technical capability.

What you'll be doing

n

Your work will include a mixture of:

n

n
- Commercial refrigeration servicing and repairs
n
- Breakdown and warranty calls
n
- Fault-finding across refrigeration, electrical and control systems
n
- Supermarket case, cool-room and freezer-room servicing
n
- Rack-system diagnostics and repairs
n
- Compressor replacements and major component repairs
n
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning installations
n
- Preventative maintenance and detailed equipment inspections
n
- Repair of case,



door and cold-room hardware
n
- Controller programming and troubleshooting
n
- Maintaining accurate job notes and asset information through Simpro
n
- Test-and-tag work where required
n
- Communicating directly with customers and the service management team
n

n

The normal service workload runs Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared after-hours roster.

n

For technicians interested in additional variety, there are also opportunities to undertake regional supermarket projects and living-away-from-home work.

n

The on-call roster is organised up to six months in advance, giving you plenty of notice to plan around it.

What we're looking for

n

Ideally, you'll have:

n

n
- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
n
- Current Refrigerant Handling Licence
n
- Relevant restricted electrical licence
n
- Current Australian driver's licence
n
- Commercial refrigeration service experience
n
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
n
- Good workmanship and attention to detail
n
- Clear communication with customers
n
- Ability to work independently and know when to seek technical support
n

n

Experience across supermarket refrigeration, rack systems, industrial refrigeration or CO2 systems would be highly regarded.

n

However, you don't need to have worked on everything listed above. A robust refrigeration foundation and a genuine desire to develop further will also be considered.
