Resources Safety & Health Queensland (RSHQ) is the independent regulator of worker safety and health in Queensland's mining, quarrying, petroleum, gas and explosives industries.

We are seeking an analytical, innovative and detail-oriented professional to join our Health, Strategy and Compliance team as a permanent Health Compliance Officer.

Working across a range of occupational health issues, you will lead compliance activities, engage with stakeholders and contribute to regulatory initiatives that support healthier and safer workplaces across the resources sector.

As a Health Compliance Officer, you will play an key role in protecting the health of workers across Queensland's resources sector through the regulation of health-related obligations under resources safety and health legislation.

Working within the Health, Strategy and Compliance team in the Operations division of RSHQ, you will lead compliance and enforcement activities including inspections, audits, investigations and targeted projects. You will engage with workers, industry representatives, medical practitioners and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with occupational health obligations and support improved health outcomes for resource workers.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys analysing information, solving problems and applying sound judgement to support evidence-based decision-making. You will work across a range of occupational health priorities, including the monitoring of medical providers and the regulation of psychosocial hazards.

We are looking for an analytical and innovative individual with excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a practical approach to problem-solving. Experience in compliance, investigations, auditing, enforcement or regulatory activities will be highly regarded,



particularly where it has involved evidence gathering, interviewing, report writing and stakeholder engagement.

- Qualifications, training or experience in government investigations, or occupational health, safety and wellbeing would be highly regarded.
- Applicants may be required to complete a Government sponsored training course, such as the Certificate IV – Government (Investigations), within 12-months of commencement. Recognition of prior learning or prior competencies may be considered.

- Role is likely to involve travel throughout Queensland, outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
- While flexible working arrangements will be considered, the key accountabilities and key relationships of the role require in-person engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including weekly in-person presence at RSHQ's Brisbane Office.
- A current driver licence is required.
