Job Description
We are seeking a motivated, customer-focused and hands-on Assistant Store Manager to support the leadership of our retail team at the Armadale Store.
n
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced retail professional looking to take the next step in their career with a globally recognised heritage brand. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales performance, supporting team development, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the store. You will act as the key point of contact in the Store Manager's absence and help foster a positive, professional and high-performing team culture.

The ideal candidate will have previous retail leadership or supervisory experience, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for customer service and team development.
n
This role requires flexibility to work on the days the Store Manager is absent. Additional workdays are negotiable in accordance with the hours outlined in your employment contract.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Lead by example to deliver exceptional customer service and create positive customer experiences.
n
- Support the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store.
n
- Process sales transactions, including cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments.
n
- Assist with stock management, including receiving, pricing and maintaining product presentation.
n
- Manage customer enquiries, returns, repairs and complaints professionally and efficiently.
n
- Support staff rostering,
attendance monitoring and timesheet approvals.
n
- Assist with onboarding, training and coaching of team members.
n
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and encourage a team-oriented team culture.
n
- Maintain store presentation standards and uphold the Birkenstock brand image.
n
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
n
- Maintain accurate store records and communication logs.
n
- Liaise effectively with the Store Manager, Retail Operations Manager, Human Resources and Head Office teams.
n
- Act as the Store Manager when required to ensure continuity of operations.
n

Key Skills
n
n
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a retail sales, supervisory or leadership role.
n
- Strong understanding of customer service principles and retail sales practices.
n
- Demonstrated leadership and team supervision capabilities.
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
n
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
n
- Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems.
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
n
- Experience with retail systems such as Lightspeed, Employment Hero, Pronto or similar systems will be highly regarded.
n
