Building Management Services Technical Officer | Local Government
$55.92 per hour + Super | Thornleigh | 12-Month Casual Assignment
Complete Staff Solutions is seeking an experienced Building Management Services Technical Officer for a 12-month casual assignment with a Local Government client based in Thornleigh.
This role involves coordinating building maintenance, capital works and asset management across a diverse portfolio of Council facilities, including community centres, aquatic centres, sporting facilities and residential and commercial properties.
We are looking for someone who brings the best of both worlds – a strong trade background combined with technical skills and experience in building maintenance and asset management.
Role
Working within the Building Management Services team, your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating building maintenance, repairs and capital works across Council facilities.
- Arranging quotations, engaging contractors and overseeing works.
- Conducting site inspections and building condition assessments.
- Managing works schedules, contractor performance and project progress.
- Reviewing asset management plans and maintaining accurate asset records.
- Assisting with asset audits, data collection and reporting.
- Managing contractor variations, payments and work programs.
- Ensuring works comply with relevant building codes and WHS requirements.
About You
We are seeking someone with hands-on building or trade experience who also has the technical ability to manage maintenance programs, asset information and reporting.
To be successful, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent qualification.
- Strong trade background with experience in building maintenance or construction.
- Technical skills in building maintenance, asset management or facilities management.
- Experience supervising contractors and coordinating maintenance works.
- Ability to conduct building inspections and condition assessments.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to maintain and analyse asset data.
- Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Current Class C driver's licence.
Experience with asset management systems, capital works programs or Local Government will be highly regarded.
The ideal candidate will have a practical understanding of building works, backed by the technical and administrative skills to manage projects, maintenance programs and asset records.
