n Job Title: Software Engineer - Embedded Systems
n Location: Perth, WA
n Salary: Commensurate with experience
n Work Set-up: Full-time | Permanent | On-site | 9-Day Fortnight

About the Role:
n We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Engineering team and contribute to the development of new and existing engine control products, embedded software, test applications and user interfaces.
n You will work across the complete software development lifecycle, translating system and control requirements into robust software solutions and supporting verification, testing and continuous improvement.
n This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong C/C++ and embedded systems background who enjoys working close to hardware and solving complex engineering problems.
n
Key Responsibilities:

n

n
- Develop, test and release embedded and PC-based software using contemporary development tools and programming languages.
n
- Develop software for engine control, power systems and other embedded sub-systems.
n
- Translate product, system and control strategy requirements into software specifications, interfaces and acceptance criteria.
n
- Produce clear technical documentation and software design inputs.
n
- Implement robust software verification and validation processes.
n
- Develop and maintain unit, regression and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing processes.
n
- Participate in design reviews, risk management, DFMEA, issue resolution and value engineering activities.
n
- Analyse test and field data to identify issues and improve software and control strategies.
n




- Support ongoing development and optimisation of engine and power system control strategies.
n
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across software, electronics, controls and mechanical engineering.
n
- Apply structured engineering and problem-solving methodologies to complex technical challenges.
n

Qualifications: n
n

n
- Degree qualification in Software, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
n
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
n
- Demonstrated experience in embedded software development.
n
- Strong understanding of embedded systems and 16-bit / 32-bit microcontrollers.
n
- Strong programming experience in C and C++.
n
- Experience with communication protocols including CAN Bus, Serial, I2C and SPI.
n
- Familiarity with Git, SVN or similar version control systems.
n
- Understanding of software development practices including merge requests, code reviews and code-diff reviews.
n
- Experience with software verification and validation, including test planning, execution and results analysis.
n
- Experience with HIL, unit or regression testing would be highly regarded.
n
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D or 7-Step Problem Solving.
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
n
- Ability to work methodically through complex technical issues.
n
