Position Purpose
The Skills Assessment Program Officer (Trades) is responsible for coordinating and administering migration skills assessments and qualification assessments in accordance with Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) requirements, organisational policies, and quality assurance standards. The role supports the end-to-end assessment process, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely outcomes for applicants seeking recognition of their trade skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment Coordination
Coordinate and schedule assessment appointments with applicants.
Monitor assessment progress and ensure compliance with established service delivery timeframes.
Liaise with assessors to obtain assessment findings, feedback reports, and supporting documentation.
Facilitate effective communication between applicants, assessors, trainers, and internal stakeholders throughout the assessment process.
Skills Assessment Administration
Support the assessment of trade qualifications and work experience for migration skills assessments and course completion eligibility assessments under the organisation’s TRA assessing authority arrangements.
Assist assessors and trainers in preparing assessment reports that meet TRA requirements, occupational standards, and organisational templates.
Ensure assessment reports accurately address trade-specific competency requirements and evidence criteria.
Determine whether applicants meet the prescribed assessment criteria and eligibility requirements.
Applicant Support and Advice
Advise ineligible applicants on training pathways, qualifications, or educational programs required to meet TRA assessment standards.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Implement and maintain TRA-aligned quality assurance and quality control processes.
Ensure compliant documentation is appropriately uploaded and managed through effective file management systems.
Assessment records, reports, and related documentation must be maintained accurately, comprehensively, and in compliance and confidence with all applicable regulatory and organisational requirements.
Monitor compliance with TRA policies, procedures, and assessment guidelines.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance assessment processes and documentation.
Policy and Process Development
Implement existing assessment policies and procedures.
Assist in the development and review of assessment tools, reporting templates, forms, and procedural documents.
Conduct research and provide recommendations to support compliance, quality improvements, and operational effectiveness.
Collaborate with the Team Manager and relevant stakeholders in the development of new processes and documentation.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience in administration,
coordination, or assessment support within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), vocational education, or skills assessment workplace.
Sound understanding of Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) requirements, migration skills assessments, and competency-based assessment principles.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assessment cases and meet strict timelines.
Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing compliant reports and documentation.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work collaboratively with assessors, trainers, applicants, and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and student/assessment management systems.

Achievement of assessment processing and reporting timeframes.
Compliance with TRA assessment standards and quality requirements.
Accuracy and completeness of assessment records and reports.
Timely communication of assessment outcomes to applicants.
Effective coordination of assessors and assessment activities.

About You
Available to start immediately.
Proven minimum 3 years of experience in vocational education, migration, or skills assessment (essential).
Experience in administration, customer service, or program coordination.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent in professionalism, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a structured and compliance-focused environment.
