Western Health's Westwards program gives Enrolled Nurses the opportunity to practice across varied metropolitan and regional healthcare environments. You remain a permanent Western Health employee, with the opportunity to take on supported secondments across rural and coastal Victoria.

As an Acute Westwards Enrolled Nurse, you practice at the top of your scope within supportive multidisciplinary teams. Whether caring for acute surgical patients at your metropolitan home campus or supporting a community health service in regional Victoria, your clinical contributions make an immediate, recognized difference—with all travel accommodation and meal support fully covered during rural placements.

Your Scope & Clinical Impact

Working in collaboration under the indirect supervision of Registered Nurses, your responsibilities include:

n

- High-Standard Inpatient Nursing: Deliver safe, person-centred, evidence-based care across acute medical and surgical patient populations.
n
- Regional Secondment Deployments: Undertake planned assignments at partner health services across regional, rural, and coastal Victoria.
n
- Clinical Observation & Escalation: Promptly recognise and escalation subtle clinical deteriorations, ensuring rapid intervention and patient safety.
n
- Medication Administration:



Safely administer prescribed medications in alignment with your NMBA endorsement and Western Health clinical guidelines.
n
- Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Maintain clear, empathetic communication with patients, families, supervising RNs, and allied health clinicians.

What You Bring

- AHPRA Registration: Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA.
n
- Qualifications: Completed Diploma of Nursing with IV medication endorsement.
n
- Acute Experience: Minimum 12 months' recent clinical experience within an Australian acute hospital environment.
n
- Adaptable Spirit: A collaborative, flexible attitude with the confidence to transition between different hospital teams and ward environments.
n
- Roster Flexibility: Capacity to participate in a 7-day rotating roster and travel on Victorian regional secondments.
n
- Pre-Employment Clearances: Satisfactory National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and Immunisation Clearance prior to appointment.
