Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Factory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our precast concrete yard in Dandenong South.

n

This is a senior operational role responsible for keeping the factory running efficiently, safely and on schedule. You will be responsible for coordinating people, trucks, materials, housekeeping, stock and equipment, while working closely with management and the production team.

This role would suit someone who is organised, practical and confident managing people and a busy yard environment.

People & Team Management

n

- Managing the day-to-day activities of factory and yard employees.
n
- Coordinating employee start times, break times and daily duties.
n
- Coordinating cleaning duties and ensuring the factory is maintained to a high standard.
n
- Monitoring attendance, productivity and general performance ensuring employees know what is expected of them.
n
- Addressing day-to-day employee issues and escalating matters to management where required.
n
- Ensuring employees follow company procedures and safety requirements.
n

Factory Operations

n

n
- Overseeing the general day-to-day operation of the factory and yard.
n
- Managing stock levels and ensuring required materials are available.
n
- Monitoring usage of materials and identifying shortages.
n
- Coordinating maintenance and repairs of factory equipment, tools and machinery.
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, organisation and productivity.
n
- Ensuring the yard is organised to allow the safe movement of people, trucks and materials.

Truck & Yard Coordination

- A key part of this position will be coordinating the movement of trucks and materials through the yard.
n
- Coordinating incoming mesh, concrete and other material deliveries.
n
- Managing truck arrival times to minimise delays and congestion.
n
- Ensuring panels are ready for loading when trucks arrive.
n
- Working with production and transport teams to ensure deliveries remain on schedule.
n

Safety

n

- Maintaining a strong safety culture throughout the factory and yard.
n
- Ensuring employees follow workplace safety procedures and instructions.
n
- Identifying and addressing hazards.
n
- Ensuring work areas are kept clean and safe.
n
- Reporting incidents, near misses, damage and operational issues.
n
- Working with management to continually improve workplace safety and procedures.
n

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident managing people and operations.

n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- Previous experience in a Factory Manager, Factory Supervisor, Production Supervisor or similar role.
n
- Experience managing employees in a manufacturing, construction, precast concrete, or similar environment.
n
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
n
- The ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities at once.
n
- Excellent communication and people-management skills.
n
- A practical approach to problem solving.
n
- The ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
n
- Robust attention to detail and a high standard of organisation.
n
- A good understanding of workplace health and safety.
n
- The ability to take ownership and make decisions.
n
- Experience in precast concrete, construction or transport operations will be highly regarded.
