BLACKROC is partnering with a leading organisation in the energy and utilities sector to recruit a Data Modeller.

Role Purpose

Join an established enterprise data team running a modern Databricks Lakehouse that's growing rapidly. You'll turn business needs into trusted, reusable logical datasets that power reporting and analytics across multiple business domains. This is a contemporary, hands-on modelling role. You'll be embedded in agile delivery teams, working side by side with stakeholders and data engineers to go quickly from business concept to implementation-ready design.

Key Responsibilities

- Work with business stakeholders, analysts, data owners and architects to understand business processes, reporting needs and analytical use cases.
- Design and maintain logical data models and business-oriented datasets within the Lakehouse.
- Apply the Enterprise Data Model to drive consistent definitions and reuse across domains.
- Analyse source systems and existing data assets to uncover relationships, structures and business meaning.
- Facilitate workshops to agree business concepts, entities, attributes and measures.
- Identify authoritative data sources and establish agreed business definitions.
- Validate and refine dataset designs iteratively with stakeholders, alongside engineers who build the prototypes.
- Maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries and metadata.
- Ensure designs align with governance,



security and information architecture standards.
- Partner with Data Engineers to implement agreed designs, and contribute actively to agile delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years in data modelling, data warehousing, analytics engineering or a related role.
- Proven experience designing logical data models and analytical datasets from business requirements.
- Solid grasp of dimensional and analytical modelling, and of modern Lakehouse architecture.
- Experience analysing complex source systems and documenting definitions, relationships and mappings.
- Confident workshop facilitation with both business and technical audiences, including building consensus on competing definitions.
- Experience with data dictionaries, business glossaries or metadata assets.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, reference data and authoritative sources.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, and comfort in agile teams.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

- Data modelling experience on Databricks or a comparable cloud analytics platform.
- Electricity, energy or utilities sector experience.
- Experience with Enterprise Data Models, Information Models or domain-based modelling.
- Experience designing datasets for self-service and data product use cases.
