Registered Nurse/Student Midwife Employment Model

Are you a Registered Nurse and are enthusiastic to become qualified as a Midwife? A Fixed-Term Part-time position is available for a Student Midwife – Employment Model to join our enthusiastic team of Health Professionals in the Midwifery Department at Swan Hill District Health commencing January 2027

n

The employment model allows you to work within the SHDH Maternity and Gynaecology Department whilst completing you Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery. You will be supported by the Clinical Midwifery Educator, the entire Midwifery and Obstetric team, and La Trobe University. Most coursework is online with several short periods of in office lectures at La Trobe Bendigo campus, with a paid placement at Bendigo Special Care Nursery with accommodation provided.

You Bring

n

n
- Completion of at least a Bachelor of Nursing
n
- Well Developed Nursing Skills of Clinical Assessment and Communication
n
- An interest in Women's and Family health and the ability to research and implement evidence-based care.
n
- A commitment to Diversity and Cultural Safety.
n
- The ability to collaborate effectively both within the maternity team, and with external partners.
n

Mandatory requirements (remove or add as per position description)

- Current National Police Check, or will to obtain.
n
- Working with Children's Check, or will to obtain.
n
- NDIS worker screening check, or will to obtain.
n
- Evidence of immunisation records/history as part of the Health Services Act 1988, 2020 Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers).
