Collins Booksellers is looking for an experienced bookseller to lead our Moonee Ponds store.

This is an opportunity for someone who loves books, understands bookselling and enjoys creating a welcoming bookshop that reflects its local community. You will lead the store's day-to-day operations, support and develop the team, and take ownership of its sales performance and customer experience.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading, supporting and developing the store team
n
- Delivering knowledgeable, friendly and personalised customer service
n
- Driving sales and monitoring the store's financial performance
n
- Managing rosters, staffing levels and day-to-day store operations
n
- Overseeing stock selection, merchandising and inventory management
n
- Building relationships with local customers, schools and community organisations
n
- Coordinating author events, promotions and local marketing activities
n
- Maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the store
n
- Working closely with the Collins Booksellers Head Office team
n

About you

n

Previous experience working as a bookseller is essential. You will also have:

n

n




- Robust knowledge of books and the Australian publishing industry
n
- Leadership or retail management experience
n
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
n
- The ability to motivate and develop a team
n
- Sound commercial judgement and an understanding of retail performance
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
n
- A genuine interest in connecting a bookshop with its local community
n
- Confidence using retail systems and standard business software
n

n

You will be a hands-on manager who is equally comfortable recommending a book, helping a team member, reviewing store performance or preparing the shop for a busy trading period.
