Disability Support Worker – Complex & High-Intensity Support

We are seeking compassionate, reliable and skilled Disability Support Workersor Nursing Students to support a 13-year-old boy with complex medical needs and high-intensity support requirements.

This is a rewarding opportunity for support workers or nursing students who have experience in complex care, or for the right candidates who are committed to learning and developing their skills through appropriate training and clinical support.

Nursing students are highly desirable for this role, particularly those seeking to build practical experience in complex care and develop their clinical skills in a supported environment.

You will work as part of a collaborative care team, following individualised care plans and working under Registered Nurse and clinical oversight to provide safe, consistent and person-centred support.

About the role

Support may include:

- PEG feeding and PEG site care
- Epilepsy and seizure management
- Respiratory monitoring, including asthma and sleep apnoea
- Medication administration and delegated nursing tasks, within relevant training and scope
- Personal care and continence support
- Manual handling, mobility assistance and transfers
- Supporting a young person with visual and hearing impairment
- Following individualised clinical care plans and established support protocols
- Working collaboratively with family members, RNs, clinicians and the broader support team
- Providing respectful, patient and age-appropriate support that promotes comfort,



dignity and quality of life

About you

We are looking for people who are:

- Experienced in disability support, complex care or high-intensity support or willing to undertake appropriate training
- Nursing students are highly desirable, particularly those with an interest in paediatric, disability, complex or community care
- Confident, calm and attentive when supporting someone with complex medical needs
- Comfortable following detailed care plans and clinical instructions
- Reliable, patient and able to maintain consistent routines
- Physically capable of undertaking manual handling and mobility support, with appropriate training
- Strong communicators who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team
- Respectful of privacy, dignity and the individual needs of the young person
- Committed to maintaining professional boundaries and high standards of care

Previous experience with PEG feeding, epilepsy, respiratory support or complex disability is highly regarded, but we are also open to suitable applicants who demonstrate the right attitude, reliability and willingness to undertake training.
