We're looking for an experienced Section Waiter / Bartender to join the team at the Royal Oak Hotel in Fitzroy North on a permanent part-time basis.

n

This role is suited to an experienced hospitality professional who is genuinely comfortable working across both the dining room and bar. You'll be confident managing your own section through a busy service while also being equally capable of stepping behind the bar, pouring a proper pint, talking confidently about wine and looking after our regulars.

n

We're looking for someone with a minimum of three years' experience in busy, established restaurants, pubs or similar venues who takes pride in genuine hospitality and enjoys being part of a neighbourhood pub.

n

Evening and weekend availability is essential.

The Venue

n

The Royal Oak Hotel is a neighbourhood pub in Fitzroy North built around the things we think make a great local: good food, thoughtful drinks, warm service and a strong connection to the community around us.

n

The venue combines a busy public bar with a solid dining trade, creating a style of service that is relaxed and familiar while still being professional and knowledgeable.

n

Our approach is straightforward - we want guests to feel comfortable whether they're stopping in for a beer at the bar, having dinner with friends or settling in for the afternoon.

That means we're looking for hospitality professionals who understand how to read a room,



look after regulars and deliver consistently good service without making it feel overly formal.

The Role

n

As a Section Waiter / Bartender, you'll work across different areas of the Royal Oak depending on the needs of service.

n

On the floor, you'll confidently manage your own section, take orders, provide knowledgeable food and beverage recommendations and make sure guests receive warm, attentive service throughout their visit.

n

Behind the bar, you'll be comfortable serving beer, wine, spirits and classic mixed drinks while maintaining a clean, organised and professional bar.

n

You'll work closely with the Venue Manager, Head Chef, leadership team and wider FOH crew to keep service moving and create the kind of experience that keeps people coming back.

n

Minimum 3 years' experience in a busy, established restaurant, pub or hospitality venue.

n

Strong experience across both floor and bar service.

n

Confident managing your own section during busy lunch and dinner services.

n

Confident carrying a minimum of three plates.

n

Comfortable serving beer, wine, spirits and classic mixed drinks.

n

Current Victorian RSA.

n

Availability to work evenings and weekends.

n

Strong food, wine, beer and general beverage knowledge.

n





Excellent communication and organisational skills.

n

Ability to move confidently between different areas of the venue as service requires.

n

A genuine interest in hospitality and looking after people.

n

An appreciation for community and neighbourhood pubs.

n

WSET Level 1 or Level 2 is an advantage.

n

Robust wine and beer knowledge.

n

Experience working in high-volume pubs or restaurants.

n

Previous experience in quality, food-focused neighbourhood venues.
