Rockmount is recruiting on behalf of a family-owned paper and film converting business based in Smithfield, cutting large reels of material down into smaller reels and sheets for their customers. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity — you'll start on assignment through Rockmount, with a genuine pathway to permanent employment with our client. It's steady, air-conditioned, workshop-based work with plenty of variety day to day.

What you'll be doing:
n
n
- Reading job tickets carefully and following every customer specification
n
- Setting up machines by hand and measuring slit widths accurately — some as fine as 9mm
n
- Handling job changes throughout the day, switching between materials like foil, plastic film, and printed paper
n
- Running "editing" jobs — passing material through the machine to find and remove bad product, taping the good product together and running on
n
- Keeping waste to a minimum, as some customers' stock is very expensive
n

Requirements

What you'll need:

- Great attention to detail — comfortable reading job tickets closely and double-checking your own work
n
- Positive eyesight for accurate measuring and inspecting (glasses are fine, you'll just need to measure accurately)
n
- Confidence with measuring tools, or a quick learner if you're not there yet
n
- A calm, thoughtful approach — someone who doesn't cut corners under pressure
n
- Genuinely looking for a long-term position, not just passing through
n
n
