Operating within a unique sector of the horse industry, we support the domestic and international transport of thoroughbred racehorses, breeding stock, performance horses, sport horses and cherished equine companions.

We are currently seeking a Payroll & Finance Officer to join our team. This is a full-time, onsite position based at our Melbourne Airport office. On-Site parking is provided.

This is a unique opportunity to become a valued member of our Finance team, responsible for delivering payroll, accounts payable and a range of day-to-day finance activities across multiple entities within the IRT Group.

Success in this role means ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, supplier payments are made accurately and within agreed timeframes, and financial records are maintained to a high standard. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, demonstrates sound judgement, proactively resolves issues and consistently delivers high-quality work.

About the Role

Working closely with Finance, HR and operational teams, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of payroll, accounts payable and finance activities across multiple entities within the IRT Group.

This is a wide-ranging, hands-on role that offers exposure to a broad range of finance responsibilities, including payroll, supplier payments, reconciliations, international payments and foreign currency transactions. You will also contribute to compliance activities, process improvements and the ongoing efficiency of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

- Process end-to-end payroll across multiple entities
- Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable
- Prepare and process supplier payments, including international payments
- Complete bank and supplier reconciliations
- Maintain payroll and employee records




- Assist with month-end finance activities
- Support foreign currency transactions
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Respond to payroll and finance-related enquiries
- Monitor changes to payroll, taxation and finance legislation and apply relevant updates across payroll and finance processes
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

About You

- Proven experience in payroll, accounts payable and broader finance functions
- End-to-end payroll processing experience
- Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-subsidiary environmentExposure to foreign currency transactions and international payments
- Proficiency in NetSuite or a similar ERP system
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Well-developed organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
- Qualifications in accounting, bookkeeping, finance or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- A high level of confidentiality, discretion and professionalism
