This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Monday, 18 January 2027.
n Lynwood Senior High School is an Independent Public School catering for students in Years 7 to 12. Our inclusive school community is committed to the care, wellbeing and academic success of every student. The school's Intensive English Centre (IEC) provides a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment for newly arrived students in Years 7 to 10 from diverse cultural, linguistic and educational backgrounds.
n IEC students are resilient and motivated learners who are developing Standard Australian English while engaging with an adapted Western Australian Curriculum. Some students may have experienced trauma, interrupted or limited prior schooling, displacement, family separation or significant cultural and educational transitions.
n Staff work collaboratively with students, families, interpreters, school teams and external agencies to support each student's learning, wellbeing and successful transition into mainstream schooling and the wider community.

The Role

n

The successful applicant will provide a culturally responsive school psychology service within the IEC, applying psychological knowledge and skills to improve the mental health, wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and learning outcomes of newly arrived migrant and refugee-background students. They will provide evidence-based assessment, consultation and intervention at individual, group and whole-centre levels, with careful consideration of students' language proficiency, cultural context, migration experiences and prior access to education.
n Working as part of the IEC team and the wider school community, the successful applicant will contribute to case planning, risk assessment, early intervention and referral processes. They will build effective partnerships with students, families and caregivers,



including through interpreters, and work closely with IEC staff, school leaders, multicultural community services and inter-agency partners to provide coordinated support. They will also strengthen staff capability to address Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) learner outcomes through consultation and practical guidance in trauma-informed, culturally safe and inclusive approaches.
n The successful applicant will demonstrate sound professional judgement, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the capacity to work sensitively and ethically across cultures while managing a complex and prioritised caseload. They will respond appropriately to critical issues and incidents, support service planning and improvement, and maintain records consistent with Department and Psychology Board of Australia requirements. Eligibility

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
