Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME)

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to support scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance. The role combines practical engineering work with maintenance coordination, technical guidance and mentoring.

You will bring sound technical judgement, a thorough approach to aircraft safety and the ability to work effectively with engineers, flight crews and operations teams. Experience in Pacific aviation operations, ideally Papua New Guinea, is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

n

Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including line maintenance, A-checks, C-checks and other heavy maintenance tasks within your qualifications and authorisations.

n

Diagnose aircraft defects, complete rectification work, and conduct functional and operational system checks using approved maintenance data.

n

Complete maintenance records, inspection documentation and certifications accurately and within the scope of your licence and company authorisations.

n

Coordinate work priorities, personnel and aircraft maintenance progress to support production schedules.

n

Liaise with maintenance control, flight crews, operations personnel and project leads on aircraft status, defects and maintenance requirements.

n

Support aircraft-on-ground recovery, component requirements and parts coordination when required.

n

Guide junior engineers and apprentices, sharing practical maintenance knowledge and safe working methods.

n

Follow aviation safety,



quality and workplace procedures and identify practical improvements to maintenance delivery.

About you

n

A current Australian CASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence with relevant aircraft ratings and demonstrable recent maintenance experience.

n

Experience in aircraft fault finding, defect rectification, inspections and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

n

Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and technical instructions and maintain accurate technical records.

n

Sound knowledge of aviation safety and quality requirements, supported by human factors training.

n

Clear communication, reliable teamwork and experience guiding or supervising maintenance personnel.

n

New Zealand CAA and Papua New Guinea CASA aircraft maintenance licences or certifications are highly regarded, as is Papua Recent Guinea CASA Inspection Authority.

n

Relevant type training or ratings in Boeing 737 B1 and/or B2, Dash 8 Q400 B1 and/or B2, Dash 8 Series 100, 200 and 300 B1, Fokker 70 B1, Fokker 100 B1, or PT6A series engine training are desirable.

Basic Aeronautical Knowledge and Aircraft Standard Maintenance Practical Skills training, or equivalent foundational aircraft maintenance training.

n

Confined space and working at heights training.

n

Year 12 certificate or equivalent education.

n

AUD $84 per hour plus superannuation, with an average of 40 hours per week.

n

Practical aircraft maintenance work within a business supporting Australian and Papua New Guinea aviation operations.

n

Scope to contribute technical expertise, guide junior personnel and improve maintenance delivery.
